About MagicPix — A Leeds Business Built From Scratch
MagicPix isn’t a franchise. It isn’t a national chain. It’s a one person business, built from nothing by someone who grew up in Leeds, believed things could be done better, and went out and proved it.
My name is the face behind MagicPix — and this is our story.
Where It All Started
Before MagicPix existed, I spent time working in the photo booth industry for another company. And what I saw didn’t sit right with me.
The service wasn’t good enough. The prices were too high. Customers were being charged a premium for an experience that didn’t justify the cost. I knew there was a better way — and I knew I could deliver it.
So in 2017, I made the decision to build something of my own. I drove down to Orpington in London, bought my first photo booth, loaded it into the car, and drove it all the way back to Leeds. Getting it home, setting it all up for the very first time — completely alone, no manual, no one to call — was one of the most exciting moments of my life. Everything was brand new. It was the start of a completely new journey.
The first time a customer stood in front of that booth, saw their photo print out, and told me it was brilliant — that it was exactly what they’d been looking for at a price they could actually afford — I knew I’d made the right decision.
What We Stand For
Affordable Doesn't Mean Basic
One of the things that frustrated me most about the industry was the assumption that quality had to be expensive. I wanted to change that.
When I launched MagicPix in 2017, I introduced green screen technology at a price point that nobody else in the area was offering it at. Hundreds of backgrounds — from the Vegas strip to the Hollywood hills, from the Eiffel Tower to professional studio backdrops — available to everyone, not just those with the biggest budgets.
And here’s something I’m genuinely proud of — our prices haven’t changed since 2017. Not once. In a world where the cost of everything keeps rising, we’ve held our prices because we believe photo booth hire should be accessible to everyone. I’m emotional about what I do. I’m caring about the people I serve. And I’ll always go the extra mile to make sure your event is everything you hoped it would be.
I’ll soon be joined by a trusted friend for some events — someone who shares the same values and the same commitment to delivering a brilliant experience. But the heart of MagicPix will always be the same.
Flexible By Design
One of the things I noticed early on was that every customer is different. Some want the full works — double prints, red carpet, guest book, the lot. Others want something simple and straightforward that fits their budget.
MagicPix was built around that understanding. Our packages are flexible and tailored to what you actually need — not designed to push you towards add-ons you don’t want. If you want to keep it simple, we’ll keep it simple. If you want to go all out, we can do that too.
Our Community
Being local matters to us. Born and raised in Meanwood, Leeds, we’ve worked across the full spectrum of Yorkshire life — from five star weddings at Oulton Hall and The Queens Hotel to community events at local clubs and charity occasions at Left Bank in Headingley.
We’ve been part of cultural celebrations in Bradford that filled the room with joy, charity events in Manchester that brought smiles to children’s faces, and community gatherings in Wakefield that reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
This isn’t just a business to us. It’s a genuine part of the communities we serve.
Nearly 200 Events. One Standard.
Since 2017 we’ve delivered over 200 events across Yorkshire and the North of England. Every single one of them has received the same level of care, preparation, and professionalism — whether it was a small private party or a large corporate celebration at a prestigious hotel.
We’ve had just one technical issue in all that time. When it happened, we refunded the client without question. Because that’s the right thing to do.
